Romey Henry Warren, 87, died Jan. 27, 2023 at his home. He was born in Wheatley Oct. 5, 1935 and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Dermott. For over 25 years he co-owned a farm in Eudora. He later worked as an over the road truck driver for over 25 years for Vernon Sawyer/KLLM until he retired at the age of 82.
He was president of Hobo Camping Club for many years. He helped the sheriff’s department by patrolling the streets and carnivals in Lake Village, Eudora and Dermott. He was also constable for Chicot County for a time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Viola and Erskin Warren; one daughter, Patricia Warren; one sister, Virginia Baker and her husband, Clifford Baker; three brothers, Alton, Houston and Earl Warren; and one brother-in-law, Lloyd James.
He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Eva Hunnicutt Warren of Dermott; two sons, Dale (Lynn) Warren of Lake Village and Cody (Heather) Warren of Fayetteville, N.C.; three daughters, Sherry (Aaron) Tankersley of Villa Ricca, Ga., Chassity (Lindell) Clark of El Paso, and Patricia (Gary) Eldridge of Des Arc; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nora Ann James of Albuquerque, N.M.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 at Temple Baptist Church in Dermott with Rev. Bobby Franklin officiating. Burial followed in Jennie Cemetery in Lake Village.
Pallbearers were David Pamplin, Russ Morrison, Randy Prescott, Dale Jones, Eddie Edwards, and David McMickle. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Barnette and Jason Hunnicutt.
