Jimmy Lavern Paskel

Jimmy Lavern Paskel, age 66, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, June 26, 2017 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. A native of Hamburg and a past resident of Muskegon, Mich., for 40 years, he lived the past 11 years in Pine Bluff. He was a retiree of Challenge Machinery and a member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LG and Carivine Jenkins-Paskel; one brother, Cornelius Paskel; and one sister, Ruby Putney.

He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Paskel Jr. (Chyann) of Pine Bluff and Lawrence Paskel of Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters, Paulette Hawthorn (Henry), Laneta Paskel and Falecia Paskel Spencer, all of Muskegon; five brothers, LV “Buddy” Paskel (Carolyn) of Crossett, Limmie Earl Paskel of Parkdale, Troy Paskel of Hamburg, Charles Paskel (Pamela) of Hamburg and Steven Paskel (Angela) of Pine Bluff; five sisters, Eunice Williams of San Diego, Calif., Cora Hubbert of Chicago, Ill., Gloria Culbert (Joseph) of Alexandria, La., Emma Wright (Larry) of Little Rock and LoWandia Williams (Cornel) of Pine Bluff; 19 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sunday, July 2 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hamburg with the Rev. Larry Wright officiating. Pallbearers were Stedrick Putney, Charles Paskel Jr., Devonte Paskel, Josh Tolliver, Christopher Tatum and Anthony Roberts.

Burial followed in Carlock Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home.

Jeff A Ross

Jeff Ross

Jeff Ross, 49, of Hamburg, died Thursday, June 29, 2017 at his residence.  He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1985 and worked as a truck driver for Riley Paving. He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Ross; his mother, Edith Sivils Oliver; and two brothers, Ricky Ross and Billy Oliver.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Angela Holcomb Ross; one daughter, Danielle Ross; one son, Jake Ross; one brother, James Oliver all of Hamburg; one sister, Linda Hall of Maumelle; and one grandson.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 2 in Flat Creek Cemetery with Eddie Dean Savage officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Pete Savage, Roy Savage, Dakota Savage and Dakota Harper.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN  38148-0142. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home.

Randle Sanders

Randle Sanders, age 61, of Crossett, died June 26, 2017 at Ashley County Medical Center. He was born Sept. 27, 1955 in Crossett. He was a Baptist, a US Army veteran, and a painter by trade.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orland G. and Mildred Ward Sanders.

Survivors include one brother, Glenn Sanders (Jackie) of Crossett, and one sister, Teresa Sanders Jenkins of Hot Springs.

A memorial service was held Thursday, June 29 at Community Chapel Baptist Church from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Arrangements were under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

James Sled Sr.

James Allen Sled Sr.

James Allen Sled Sr., 77, of Crossett, died surrounded by his family Saturday, July 1, 2017, at the Stonegate Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Lake Village May 26, 1940, and graduated Crossett High School in 1959. He worked as a shift engineer at Georgia Pacific for 41 years and was a member of Meridian Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Eva Rowell Sled; one brother, Bobby Sled; and one sister, Maxie Sled Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Lou Stanley Sled; one son, James Allen Sled Jr. “Jim”; three daughters, Kim Sled, Jana Sled, and Brandi Sled all of Crossett; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service was to be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 4 at Meridian Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Massey officiating, followed by burial in Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.

Memorials may be sent to Meridian Baptist Church and Gideons International.

Kali Joy Williams

Kali Joy Williams, infant daughter of Jelani Kwane Williams and Raven Sims, died June 26, 2017 at Ashley County Medical Center.

Survivors include her parents; maternal grandparents, Yolanda and Marice Williams and Chad Sims; paternal grandparents, Katrina Smith and Jessie Williams; and great-grandparents, Joyce Webb, Bobby Webb, Ricky Sims and Marva Sims.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1 at Westview Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Scott officiating and under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.
