Eulana Joy Barnett

Eulana Joy Barnett, age 70, of Crossett died Dec. 19, 2017, at Ashley County Medical Center. She was born July 7, 1947 in Crossett. She was of the Free Will Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wallace Jackson and Eula Agnes Harris; one sister, Rita Man; and one brother, Wayne Jackson.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Barnett of Crossett; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Barnett of Crossett and Cindy Barnett of Beekman, La.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Jones Funeral Home chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21 with Bro. Michael Griffith officiating. Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Crossett under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

Brenda Louise Jones

Brenda Louise Jones, age 72 of Crossett died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 at Ashley County Medical Center. She was a lifelong native of Crossett, a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church on Florida Street.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David Pryor and Ophelia Bluford-Pryor; one brother, William “Will” Rogers; and one son, Christopher Pryor.

She is survived by one sister, Verna Duke of Crossett.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec 26 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Jackson officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Derrick Williams, Edgar Cotton Jr., Darby Webb, Jimmy Thornton, Jerrod Handley and Bryon Davis. Honorary pallbearers were member of the T.W. Daniel High School class of 1963.

Marjorie Sawyer Thacker

Marjorie Sawyer Thacker, 90, of Fountain Hill, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 at Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of the Extra community south of Hamburg, she lived in Fountain Hill for the past 23 years and was a former resident of Washington State. She was a 1945 graduate of Hamburg High School and she retired in 1989 from the Department of the Army after 25 years of service. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zemry and Nennie Gulledge Sawyer, and one sister, Chrystola Dean Sawyer Ray.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Frank B. Thacker Jr. of Fountain Hill; one son, George Paul Thacker and wife, Betty, of Darien, Conn.; three daughters, Anna “Looney” Thacker of Crossett; Vinita Carol Dew of Kirksville, Mo., and Dava Chrystola Zirnheld and husband, Jerome, of Toledo, Wash.; one brother, David T. Sawyer and wife, Barbara, of Springhill, La.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held in the spring. Burial will be in Extra Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Extra Cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. Dorothy Farmer, 1303 N. Cherry Street, Hamburg, AR  71646. Arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home.
