Odessa Brown

Odessa Brown, 85, of San Francisco, CA, formerly of Crossett, died Saturday, April 8, 2000. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home in Crossett with Revs. Tyrone Broomfield and Nolan Watson officiating. Burial followed services at the Westview Cemetery.

Mr. John W. Cruse

Mr. John W. (Buster) Cruce, 83, of Hamburg died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. A a native of Drew County; a resident the Prairie Grove community for most of his life and a resident of Monticello for the past 22 years, he was a retired farmer and he retired from Burlington Industries in 1981 after 27 years. He was a member of the Prairie Grove Baptist Church and attended the Pauline Baptist Church in Monticello for the past 22 years. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Lee Cruce; his parents, Jay & Rita Bowden Cruce and a sister, Letha Howell. Survivors include his wife, Willene Bolin Ellis Cruce of Hamburg; two sons, John Allen & Jerry Cruce of the Prairie Grove community; two daughters, Claudie Cruce Sparks of Fountain Hill and Dian Cruce Ricks of Hamburg; a brother, Durwood Cruce of Monticello; two sisters, Helen Burnett of Monticello and Bertha Bolin of Fountain Hill; two step-daughters, Barbara Beaty and Sherry O'Neill both of Monticello; six grandsons, Jeff, Jay & Jeremy Sparks, David Ricks, J.R. & J.W. Cruce; a great-granddaughter, Brandi Ricks; six step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were planned for 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, at the Prairie Grove Baptist Church with Revs. Jimmy Bates & Jay Sparks officiating. Pallbearers were to be Jeremy Sparks, Jeff Sparks, James Durwood Cruce, Jr., Steve Bolin, Bob Perry, Loy Hicks & Earl Lemley. Interment was to follow services at the Prairie Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Mrs. Lena Amos Findley

Mrs. Lena Amos Norrell Findley, 83, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at her residence. She was a native of Ashley County; a resident of Pine Bluff for the past year and a half and had lived in Augusta for 30 years. She was a homemaker and baby sitter for almost 50 years, and she was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Augusta. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herman Norrell & Earl Findley and her parents, Willie & Fannie Woods Amos. She is survived by a son, James Donald Norrell of Pine Bluff; three daughters, Maryland McBroome of Pine Bluff, Peggy Lane of Columbia, MO, and Helen Bishop of Atkins; two brothers, Rev. Lawrence & Rev. Lane Amos; two sisters, Helen Knight & Freddie Murphy, all of Hamburg; 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 13, in the Zion United Methodist Church with Revs. Mike Martin & Lawrence Amos officiating. Pallbearers were Nicholas, Russell, Larry Joe, Adam, Shane & Jeff Amos, Shelby & Jared Knight, Willie "Hoss" Murphy, Billy Faye Murphy, Buddy Livingston, Kenneth Wayne and James Earl Beavers. Interment was the Zion Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care Center, 2214 S. Blake, Pine Bluff, AR 71603.
