Ashley County Tax Collector Lori Pennington has been selected to serve on the Arkansas County Tax Collectors Association’s Legislative Committee. The five-person committee works with the association body to formulate legislative proposals for upcoming sessions of the state General Assembly.

Pennington will serve on the Legislative Committee through 2022.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be chosen to serve on the Legislative Committee for the Collectors Association,” Pennington said. “I am excited, and I look forward to working with our senators and representatives at the state Capitol on passing laws to help our local county government be the best it can be.”

Pennington is in her second year as Ashley County collector. She has worked in the collector’s office since June 2006.

In addition to serving on the Collectors Association’s Legislative Committee, Pennington is one of two representatives of District 4 on the association’s Continuing Education Committee. District 4 includes 32 counties.

Outside of work, Pennington is president of Ashley County Cares, a nonprofit organization that raises money to find a cure for breast cancer. She also has been the building fund treasurer for her church for the last five years.
