The FFA organization selected its officers for this year September 9. The new officers are president, Cody Pearson; vice president, Jade Halliburton; secretary, Jazmine Skender; treasurer, Whitley Hickman; reporter, Augustus West; sentinel, Corey Collier; and junior advisor, Lane Chapman. Halliburton was president in Crossett's FFA chapter last year.
The officers are thrilled about the new year and their positions. Reporter West stated, "This should be a very good year. We expect to have 60-80 members. I'm excited about this year; I think we will be able to get a lot accomplished."
The FFA advisors are Don Wallace, Emily Wright, and David Streeter.
FFA meets every second Thursday each month at 11:30 in the high school auditorium. All high school students and ninth graders are welcome to attend.
FFA has already begun to start on activities in the club. The members will be selling poinsettias for $12 per plant. They will be ready to pick up around December 1. Anyone interested should see an FFA member to place an order.
More members are expected to participate in the livestock show. District for the show is at the end of September. Members that win district qualify for state.
The entire club and the sponsors are excited about the year with FFA. Emily Wright stated, "I think we're going to have a good year. We have excellent officers, and I think they are going to do things that haven't been done before."
