The Lady Lions softball team beat Warren by one on Thursday night on the road.
The Lions started the first inning by going three up, three down and hit the field with no score.
Marlee Tomerlin struck out the first Lady Jack batter and the next two batters were thrown out at first by Tomerlin and third baseman, Mallory Rials.
In the top of the second, Tiarra Mooney hit a single and Annah Edwards walked on, but both were left stranded on base with the third out.
Warren came in to bat and put up one run on the board. The first Lady Jack hit a line drive to center field, but was picked off base after a strike out and another base hit. A third base hit put another Lady Jack runner on base and moved a runner to home making the score 1-0. Sarrah Harrod got the third out for the Lady Lions by scooping up a grounder on second and throwing it to first and the Lions came in to bat.
The Lady Lions came in to bat, but went three up three down and hit the field still trailing 1-0.
Hamburg got three quick outs and came into start the fourth inning, but went three up three down again.
In the top of the fifth, Hamburg scored for the first time and took the lead on a two out rally.
With two outs on the board, Lady Lion Percy Pennington got on base with a single to short stop. Trinity Lewis hit a single that moved Pennington to third and Bri Huff knocked them both in on the next hit.
The Lady Lions hit the field leading 2-1 and held Warren to three up three down.
In the top of the sixth, Rials was out on a pop fly, but Tomerlin got on base with a double to left field.
A strikeout gave the Lions a second out, but Harrod was able to knock Tomerlin in with a shot to centerfield before the third out.
The Lady Lions held Warren to three up three down again and came back in to bat.
In the top of the seventh, Annah Edwards started off with a strikeout, but Pennington followed with a double to left field. Huff hit a shot to center field to bring Pennington in and the Lions were leading 4-1.
In the bottom of the seventh, Hamburg wasn’t able to hold them and the Jacks tied the score. The first Lady Jack batter reached first on error, and was almost left stranded on base. Tomerlin struck the next batter out and Annah Edwards caught a line drive in right for the second out, but a fourth batter brought in the run. The score was 4-2 and the Lions still needed one out. Another batter reached base on error giving the Lady Jacks two on base and the next batter knocked them both in to tie the score 4-4.
Two more batters made it on to base, but Annah Edwards caught the third out in right field before the Lady Jacks were able to take the lead.
In the top of the eight, Tomerlin opened with a homerun putting the Lady Lions back in the lead 5-4. The next two batters lined out and the Lady Lions took the field.
Tomerlin struck three out in a row and sealed the Lady Lion win.
The Lady Lions played in Mcgehee on Wednesday, but results were not available at press time.
The Lady Lions will play the Lady Eagles on Thursday night at 4 p.m. in Crossett.
