The Hamburg Lion basketball team beat Camden on the road Tuesday night, Jan. 22.
Camden is currently ranked No. 2 in the 4A Region 8 conference, but the Hamburg Lions pulled off a close win.
The Lions led 15-12 in the first quarter and were leading 32-25 at the half. Camden outscored the Lions in the second half of play, but it wasn’t enough to take back the lead and the Lions came away with a 68-65 victory.
Jalen Wilson was the leading scorer for the Lions with a total of 23 points. Wilson was five for nine on three point attempts and was 100 percent on his free throw attempts.
Nigel Lewis was right behind Wilson with 19 points total and Caleb Bridges behind him with 10.
Demarian Johnson led the team in total rebounds with two offensive rebounds and five defensive rebounds.
On Thursday, the Lions traveled to Star City, but fell to the Bulldogs 57-52.
Johnson led the offense with 10 total points and six offensive rebounds. Trey Brown and Nicholas Bridges fell in behind him with nine points each.
Hamburg is now 10-12 for the season and 2-5 in conference play.
The Lady Lions fell to Camden and Star City both and are now 2-19 for the season overall and 0-7 in the league.
The Lions hosted Warren on Tuesday night, but the results were not available at press time.
The Lions and Lady Lions will travel to Monticello on Feb. 5 to face the Monticello Billes. Their next home game will be Feb. 8 when they host the Crossett Eagles for a rivalry rematch.
