The Hamburg High School boys placed fifth out of 10 track teams who competed in the Crossett Eagle Relays track meet last Thursday night.
Bryant Gonzalez placed second behind Crossett’s Desmond Harris in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:33:19.
Gonzalez also placed fourth out of eight in the 800-meter run and ninth out of 23 in the 400-meter run.
Crossett runners claimed the top three places in the boys 100-meter dash with times of 10.99, 11.10, and 11.21. Hamburg runners Jamal Brewer and Armod Taylor claimed the fourth and fifth spots.
Brewer had a time of 11.40 and Taylor was right behind him with 11.43.
In the boys 4 by 100-meter relay, Crossett’s team claimed the number one spot with a time of 44.06.
Smackover High School came in second with 44.16, the Hamburg Lions in third with 45.45, and DeWitt High School in fourth with 48.28.
Taylor and Brewer along with Gage Selby and Nick McNiel ran for the Hamburg Lion relay team.
Other top 10 awards for Hamburg boys included Kyron Smith in fourth place in the high jump, Jared Laughlin in eighth in the shot put competition, and Nick McNeil in seventh in the 110-meter hurdles.
The Lady Lions placed ninth in the Crossett Relays, but Cierra Tucker won the girls 100-meter dash with a time of 13.04 and placed in the top ten in the 400-meter dash.
The Hamburg track team will compete in the Panther Relays in Magnolia March 28.
