Evelyn Cleary

Evelyn Cleary, age 73, of Dermott, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. She was a native of Boydell but was a resident of Dermott, a homemaker and a member of Full Gospel Outreach Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Cleary; one son, Joe Nathan Hicks; her parents, Will and Clara Bluford-Carolina; four brothers, James Carolina, Lewis Carolina, William Carolina and Jewel Carolina; and three sisters, Dorothy Bethune, Nebraska Carolina and Murial Watts.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Simmons, husband Ronald of Killeen, Texas; one brother, Henry Carolina, wife Virgil of Montrose; four sisters, Johnnie Mae Oliver of Milwaukee, Wis., Monzella Ravel of Detroit, Mich., Aretha Moseby of Portland, and Teretha Woods of Montrose; and two grandchildren.

Services were at 11a a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at Cromwell Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jack Woods Sr. officiating.

Pallbearers were Nickey Hawkins, Teddy Hawkins, Lee Edward Plummer, Chester Dunn, Charles Hawkins and Jimmy Joe Brown. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Boydell and under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Sidney A. Sammons

Sidney A. Sammons, 82, of Bastrop, La., died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016 at his residence. He was a native of Wilmot and a former resident of Houston, Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was the owner of S.A. Sammons Air Conditioning and Heating in Houston for over 40 years.

He was preceded in death by two sons, John Sammons and Stewart Sammons; his parents, Colvin and Mamie Haynes Sammons; three brothers, Lacloys Sammons, Dupree Sammons and Olvis Sammons; and one sister, Bea Myers Herron.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolly Buffington Sammons of Bastrop; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 in Hamburg Cemetery with Bro. Joel Meredith officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Moseley Edwards

Elizabeth Moseley Edwards, of Montrose, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at her residence after a short illness. She was a native of Sumter, S.C. She attended University of South Carolina and graduated from University of Georgia in 1958. She was a part of the family farming operation and a member of Montrose United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, True and Elizabeth Cuttino Moseley.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack Edwards of Montrose; three daughters, Mary Edwards of Atlanta, Ga., Cynthia Kimbrell (Howard) of Bentonville and Vickie Henning (Mike) from East End; one sister, Mary Ellen Moseley of Atlanta; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 in Pinewood Memorial Park with Stanton Veazey officiating.

Pallbearers were Jonathon Henning, Michael Carpenter, Jackson Kimbrell, True Kimbrell, John Newcome and Tracy Borgognoni. Memorials may be made to Guachoya Cultural Arts Center, PO Box 732, Lake Village, AR 71653.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Moseley Edwards

Edwina Dunning Morrison

Edwina Dunning Morrison, 90, of Little Rock, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. She was a native of Wilmot and a former resident of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. She graduated from Henderson State Teachers College in 1946 and was an educator for 25 years. She was a member of the Audubon Society and of Immanuel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jack Morrison; her parents, Edward and Essie Sawyer Dunning; and one brother, George Henry Dunning.

She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Miller of Mt. Pleasant; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 in Wilmot Cemetery with Carlos Pitts officiating. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 501 N. Shackelford Road, Little Rock, AR 72211.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home.

Beatrice Booth Johnson

Beatrice Booth Johnson, 86, of Hamburg, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 at Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crossett. She was a native of Chicot County and a former resident of Bastrop, La. She was a homemaker and member of Cloverdale Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Rayford Johnson; one son, Charles Clifton Henderson; one granddaughter, Kristi M. Henderson; and her parents, Perry and Verdell Ozment Booth.

She is survived by two sons, J.C. Henderson and wife, Glenda, of Hamburg and Sammy Henderson and wife, Peggy, of Crossett; three brothers, Perry Booth Jr. and wife, Barbara, of El Dorado, Charles Booth and wife, Dorothy, of Monticello and Cecil Booth of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Jean Elliott and husband, Jerry, of Hamburg and Ouida Wolfe and husband, Winston, of Hot Springs Village; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 at Cloverdale Assembly of God Church with Bro. Justin Uselton and Bro. Wes Miller officiating. Burial was in Judson Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Larry Booth, David Booth, Charlie Booth, Gary Carter, James Herrington and Ed Crouch. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Wayne Roan, Michael Boykin, Lee Bufkin and Steven Henderson.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home.

Woodrow W. Forrest

Woodrow W. Forrest, 67, of Crossett, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at his daughter’s home in Heflin, La. He was born April 18, 1949, in Crossett where he lived most of his life. He was a Methodist and worked as a heavy machine operator for Saiia Construction Company for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rayford Blondell Forrest and Myrtle Mae Maxwell Forrest~ two brothers, Ranzy W. Forrest and James W. Smith~ and one sister, Amaryllis Rae Forrest Chunn.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Diane Forrest of Crossett~ two daughters, Jammie Holland and husband Matthew of Heflin and Johnna Forrest of Indianola, Miss.~ three brothers, Lester Fay Forrest of Crossett, Ronna Dean and wife Shirley of Crossett, and Willard Keith and wife Debbie of Parkdale~ two sisters, Mary Sue Ferguson of Crossett and Donna Jean Coronado and husband John of West Monroe, La.~ and four grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20 in Carlock Cemetery with Bro. Kenneth Watt officiating and under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett.
