Patricia Ann Roberts

Patricia Ann Roberts, 82, of Wilmot, died on her birthday, Monday, Sept. 26, 2016 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, La. She was a native of Ashley County, a resident of Wilmot for the past 23 years and a former resident of Sacramento, Calif. She was a journalist and worked for Bastrop Enterprise, Monroe News Star and Northeast Pow Wow Newspapers. She was a member of the Pleasant Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Emory Martin; her mother, Alma Carroll Martin Blocker; one sister; and two brothers.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Roberts of Hamburg and Tony Roberts and wife, Amanda, of Bastrop; two brothers, Joe Blocker of Hamburg and James Blocker of Seattle, Wash.; five grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Josh Luellen officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joshua Roberts, Caleb Roberts, Damian Roberts, Jeremy Roberts, Philip Roberts and Troy Bryan. Memorials may be sent to Mt. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home.

Gary Pardon

Gary Pardon, 63, of Bastrop, La., died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 in Baton Rouge, La. He was a native of Globe, Ariz., a resident of Bastrop for the past 12 years and a former resident of Wilmot and Kansas City, Kan. He graduated from Portland High School in 1971 and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam Conflict and with the National Guard as a medical specialist with a medical company. He worked for Turner Industries and Thomas Industrial Company for many years.

He was preceded in death by one son, Lee Petty and his parents, Robert D. and Betty Ann Haeslip Pardon.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kemp Pardon; two daughters, Karen Petty of Bastrop and Melissa Lingefelt and husband, Shane, all of Bastrop; one sister, Gloria McCrory and husband, Earl, of Hamburg; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Eugene Howie officiating. Burial was in Snyder Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jason Welch, Dillon Repp, Rodney Laughlin, Red Halterman, Charles Edwards and Roger Wall. Honorary pallbearers were Shane Lingefelt and Robert Earl McCrory.

Raymond Paul Laskey

Raymond Paul Laskey, 80, of Hamburg, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was a native of Chicago, Ill., and a resident of Hamburg since 1961. He was a veteran of the United States Army having retired in 1970 after 20 years of service. He was a funeral director at Jones Funeral Home and Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home for 26 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 41 years, Winda Fay Hill Laskey; one son, Phillip Nelson Laskey; one daughter, Vicki Lee Pennington; his parents, Phillip and Agnes Juchcuinski Laskowski; one brother, Florian Laskowski; and two sisters, Theresa Patsky and Phyllis Hale.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Earlene Summers Morgan Laskey of Hamburg; seven grandchildren; two daughters, Dee Dee Spruell and husband, Kevin, and Tammy Cypert and husband, Steve, all of Hamburg; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Felix (Phil) Laskey and wife, Jane, of Chicago.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Greg Comer and Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Burial will be in Pinewood Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are Lee Thornhill, Barron Johnson, Willie Cromwell, Davie Holland, Don Davis and Johnny Pierce.
