Louis Francis Gillingham

Louis Francis Gillingham of Miami, FL passed away June 6, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Betty (Gifford) Gillingham, formerly of Hamburg.

Memorial services were held Sunday, June 11 at the Shiloh Baptist Church.

Ann Arnold Hastings

Ann Arnold Hastings, age 76, of Crossett, died June 7, 2000 at the Drew Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 26, 1923 in Yonkers, New York to her parents, LeGrand Jenks and Hazel Strang Arnold. Mrs. Hastings was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Crossett. She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville School of Law, a Justice of the Peace for Ashley County where she served on the Ashley County Quorum Court, a member of the League of Women Voters and an avid golfer. She was preceded in death by her husband W.E. (Ned) Hastings, and her brother, William S. Arnold.

Her survivors include one son: David Hastings of Cabot; two daughters, Laurie Ray of Monticello and Lynn Hastings of Dallas, TX; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service were held Friday, June 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Crossett. Arrangements were under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Crossett or a favorite charity.

Ellis Melhart Moore

Ellis Melhart Moore, age 79, of Crossett, died Monday, June 5, 2000 at Beverly Healthcare of Crossett. Mr. Moore was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a retired Georgia-Pacific Papermill Supervisor (after over 30 years), an Air Force WWII veteran, an avid fisherman and a member of the Blue Buck Hunting Club. He was preceded in death by a son, Wayman "Bo Bo" Moore; his parents, Willie and Mary Spencer Moore; two brothers, Adrian and George Moore; and two sisters, Lillian Pearson and Clovese Simpson.

He is survived by Mrs. Mildred M. Moore, his wife of 57 years; two sons, Marvin Angelo Moore and Larry Moore, both of Crossett; one daughter, Linda Walker of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Eric Moore of Crossett; two sisters-in-law, Agnes H. Moore of Crossett and Marjorie Harris Smith of Compton, CA; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gates Chapel A.M.E. with the Rev. Tyrone Broomfield officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Baldwin, Edgar Johnson Jr., Joe Smith, Michael Scott, Sherman Dawkins and Roger Bryant, with the Blue Buck Hunting Club serving as honorary pallbearers. Interment was in the Westview Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home.

Willie Franklin Nolan

Willie Franklin "Frank" Nolan, age 65, of Crossett, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at his residence. He was born on May 14, 1935 in Morehouse Parish to his parents, Willie Erwin and Bessie Jane Burnett Nolan. Mr. Nolan had been involved in carpentry since 1969. He was a member of the North Crossett First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Wayne Nolan, and a sister, Ruth Montgomery.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Nolan of Crossett; one son, Gary Nolan, and his wife, Donna, of Sherwood; one daughter, Sherry Martin, and husband, Keith, of Crossett; one brother, Alfred Rea of Bastrop, LA; two sisters, Dorothy Bulloch and Doris Brown of Bastrop; and five grandchildren: Shawn Martin, Kevin Martin, Kelly Martin, Hayley Nolan and Hannah Nolan.

Visitation was Tuesday, June 13, from 6-9 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home and funeral services were planned for 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, at North Crossett First Baptist Church with Robin Allen and Danny Roberts officiating. Pallbearers were to be Steve Naff, Kenneth Barrett, Holyan Outlaw, Mike Webb, Tommy Rutherford and Charles Frickie with John Craig, Charles Barnett and Leonard Abney serving as honorary pallbearers. Interment was to follow services at the Hughes Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Pauline Andrews Sharp

Pauline Andrews Sharp, age 80, of Crossett, died Saturday, June 10, 2000 at the Ashley County Medical Center. Mrs. Sharp was born in Ashley County on April 17, 1920 to her parents, Arthur L. and Lillie Duncan Andrews. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church. Mr. Sharp was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Sharp.

Survivors include one son, James Sharp of Crossett; three sisters, Gail Jackson of Anacoco, LA, Annie Nelson of Pauleys Island, SC and Betty McRoy of Caruthersville, MO; two brothers, Johnnie Andrews of Crossett and Chesley Andrews of Ashdown; and one granddaughter, Lisa Sharp of Crossett.

Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 12, at the Meridian Baptist Church with Bro. Rousey and Bro. Townsend officiating.

Burial followed the services at Hickory Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
