Preliminary hearings and jury trial have been set for the Eudora man accused of murder in Pine Street Park in Hamburg.

Erskine Flamer Jr., 24, of Eudora was arrested and charged with the murder of 25-year-old Deunte Stanley after allegedly stabbing him to death on July 21 in Pine Street Park.

The Hamburg police responded to the incident, and after hearing witness testimonies, arrested Flamer. Police Chief Johnny Oliver said that Stanley was transported to Ashley County Medical Center where he died from a single stab wound.

Flamer was formally charged on July 24 by Tenth Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Thomas Deen with Murder I and Tampering with physical evidence.

On Aug. 2 a Waiver of Arraignment was filed with the Ashley County circuit clerk’s office stating that Flamer demanded a jury trial.

Last week Circuit Judge Robert Bynum Gibson signed an order setting hearings on Aug. 19 and Sept. 30 and a jury trial for the week of Oct. 22.

Flamer is currently represented by Joe Mazzanti with the public defender’s office.
