Ashley County Judge Jim Hudson signed an emergency burn ban into effect Friday, Sept. 6.

The order cited “dry conditions and extreme fire hazards” as reasons for the decree that everyone in Ashley County should “refrain from all outdoor and open burning, grilling, and shooting or discharging any type of fireworks.”

Until weather and moisture conditions permit lifting the ban, violators will be reported for appropriate charges. “The cooperation of everyone in Ashley County is urgently needed to prevent destruction and injury by outdoor fires during this dangerous period,” according to the order.
