Felsenthal Sets Dates for Quota Hunts

Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge has scheduled the following dates for the 2008 quota gun deer hunts.

The muzzleloader season will be October 18 -19, the first modern gun season will be November 8 - 9 and the second modern gun season will be November 13-14.

There is a two deer limit (one buck and one doe) with no antler restriction. Deer must be checked in at refuge check stations.

Applications will be accepted July 1 through August 15 for quota deer hunts. To apply, provide the following information:

On the front of a Pre-Paid postcard (in the middle) provide name and full address. The postcard will be mailed back with application status.

On the back (top) of the pre-paid postcard indicate refuge, date of hunt and phone number. Only one applicant per postcard.

To apply as a group, place up to five pre-paid postcards in one envelope.

Send pre-paid postcard in an envelope to: Felsenthal PO Box 1157, Crossett, AR 71635.

A hunter education card is required for anyone born after December 31, 1968, but do not send card in with application.

Duplicate, unclear, incomplete applications, applying for more than one quota hunt per refuge or applying early or after the deadline will result in all applicants/application being rejected.

Applications will be selected by random drawing.

A non-refundable fee of $12.50 Money Order or Cashier Check; made payable to USFWS, must be included with the postcard. Indicate on the bottom of the money order or cashier check tracking number(s) and hunt applying for. Paying for multiple applicants is authorized if all applicants applied for the same hunt and refuge.

General permit/hunt regulations brochures will be mailed with quota hunt permits to those who are selected and have paid.

ATV Special User Permits - Special arrangements can be made to accommodate persons possessing Game and Fish Commission mobility impaired card by contacting the refuge office in advance of planned hunting activities. In order to receive an ATV permit hunters must present the refuge with a current mobility card before the ATV permit will be issued.

The Magnolia Panthers took the opening kickoff and drove it down field for a score in the opening game for the Crossett Eagles on Friday night, September 5, at Yarborough Field..
