Obituaries Published January 16 Full Text Eula Belle Brantley Eula Belle "Sue" Jordan Brantley, 89, of Crossett died Saturday, January 12, 2008, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado. Born on September 24, 1918, in Milo to Charlie and Ollie Lee Pogue Jordan, she was a homemaker, a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two sons, Grady Brantley and wife Nell of Crossett and Jerry Brantley and wife Kay of Crossett; one daughter; Patricia Clanton and husband Stacy of Magnolia; three brothers, Perry T. Jordan, John Parnell Jordan, and Charles Royce Jordan; two sisters, Annie T. Morman and Pauline McClain; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Carroll D. Brantley; seven brothers and sisters, Green Berry Jordan, Myrtle Jordan "Sis" Willis, Lee Roy "Boss" Jordan, Delmar B. "Delt" Jordan, D.D. "Biggon" Jordan, Gladys Oren "Pete"Jordan Johnston, and J.B. Jordan. Mrs. Brantley was a homemaker, member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and the Eastern Star. Funeral services were planned for the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15. Burial was to follow at Pinewood Memorial Park. www.jonesservice.com. Cecil T. Gammel Cecil T. Gammel, 93, of Crossett died Monday, January 7, 2008. He was born on September 18, 1914 in Line to the late Charlie K. and Susie Morman Gammel. Mr. Gammel was a retired employee of Georgia Pacific, was a faithful member of the Church of Christ of Crossett, and enjoyed camping and fishing activities. He was also an avid woodworker and was proud to have shared many pieces of furniture with his family. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeff Gammel; two brothers, Bart Gammel, Odis Gammel; and two sisters, Vera Howard and Era Rowzee. Survivors include his wife Juanita Gammel of Crossett; three sons, James Gammel and wife Kaaren of Zachary, LA, and Billy Gammel and wife Patti and Lamar Gammel and wife Beverly, both of Crossett; one daughter, Norma Johnson and husband Dwight of Hindsville; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, in the Church of Christ with Mark Mosher and Joe Sponaugle officiating. Pallbearers were Mark, Scott, Jason, Josh, Caleb and Marshall Gammell and Mike and Rusty Johnson. Mary Lois Hill Mary Lois Hill, 74, of Camden, formerly of Carthage, died Monday, January 7, 2008, at the Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden. A native of Carthage, she was retired from Kohler and was a member of the Trinity Faith Church of God in Christ in Fordyce. Survivors include one son, Elliot Dean Hill of Carthage; two daughters, Angela Diane Johnson of Camden and Ellen Weathers of Fordyce; one stepdaughter, Martha Ann Lawson of Akron, OH; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Hill, Jr.; her parents, John Peter and Lydia Cromwell Ledbetter; two brothers, James and Moses Ledbetter; and a sister, Frances Harris. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 12, at the Trinity Faith Church of God in Christ in Fordyce with Supt. Thomas Walker officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Dunn, Chris Phillips, Freddie Jacobs, Donnie Griffin, James Lee and Nekko Westbrooks. Burial followed services at the Hampton Springs Cemetery in Carthage with arrangements by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Sylvester Kitchen Sylvester Kitchen, 55, of Wilmot died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, outside Wilmot. A native of San Francisco, CA, and a Wilmot resident for the past six years, he was a farmer laborer. Survivors include his wife of nine years, Brenda Palmer Kitchen; two sons, Antonio and Reggie Kitchen of Santa Rosa, CA; two daughters, Laronda Lavvorn of Santa Rosa and Ashanti Kitchen of Wilmot; his father, Jim Kitchen of Wilmot; three sisters, Remell and Mary Kitchen of Santa Rosa and Hope and husband Louis Harrison of Dallas, TX; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ella Stevenson Kitchen, and his stepmother, Gladys Kitchen. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 13, in the First Baptist Church in Wilmot with Rev. Lorenzo Price officiating. Pallbearers were Cleveland Parker and Billy, Robert, Charles, Kenny and Leo Kitchen. Burial followed services at the Jim Smith Cemetery with arrangements by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Vernon McNeice Vernon Alvis McNeice, 87, of Crossett died Saturday January 12, 2008, at his home. Born on March 15, 1920, to the late Lewis and Margaret Francis Elizabeth Brown McNeice, he retired from Georgia Pacific after thirty years of service as a truck driver. He was a World War II Army veteran and received the American Theater Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Theater Medal with two Bronze Battle Stars, World War II Victory Medal, and the Purple Heart. He was a member of Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Pauline Cunningham McNeice of Crossett; four sons; Charles McNeice and wife DeeDee of Bauxite, Glen McNeice and wife Diann of Hermitage, Joe McNeice and wife Helen of Crossett and Randy McNeice and wife Mary of Lewisville, TX; one daughter; Linda Kinnaird and husband Jerry of McGehee; two brothers; Lavelle McNeice of Quinlan, TX, and Clifton McNeice of Carrollton, TX; two sisters, Mae Gardner and Louise Sydoriak, both of Hamburg; twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Betty Ann McNeice and Charlotte Stadler and four brothers. Funeral services were planned for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, in the Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church with Bros. Roy Grantham and Roy Craig officiating. Pallbearers were to be Burl Toler, Dennis Banks, William Coleman, Kevin Kilcrease, Mershell Carpenter and Joe Eubanks Interment was to follow at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Memorials may be made to Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church, 120 East Church Street, Crossett, AR 71635. www.jonesservice.com Bracie Anthony Robertson Bracie Anthony Robertson, 90, of Sterlington, LA, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at St. Francis Specialty Hospital in Monroe, LA. Born on February 12, 1917, to Eugene Anthony and Violet Bolin Anthony in Milo, Mrs. Robertson formerly lived in Bastrop, LA, and Huttig. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Huttig for many years. Her hobbies included sewing, doll making, and arts and crafts. Survivors include a daughter, Lottie Sawyer Vincent and husband David D. of Sterlington; two grandchildren, David G. Vincent of Cameron, TX, and Cheri J. Vincent of Houston, TX; one great-grandson, Blake A. Ingram of Houston, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Virgil L. Robertson; two sisters, Myrdie Lee Sawyer and Reba Kalkhoff and a brother, C. W. "Sonny" Anthony. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Bro. Billy Lane Amos officiating. Pallbearers were Marty McClain, Paul McClain, Ronnie Anthony, Lavon Sawyer, David Ashcroft and Larry Peebles.
